Mullard C280 metallized polyester film capacitors, commonly referred to as “tropical fish”
capacitors (due to their striped color coded markings), have desirable characteristics for audio applications such as voltage-controlled filters in synthesizers, guitar and amplifier tone circuits, and other discrete circuitry. The dielectric is made of a polyethylene terephthalate film and fabricated using ‘extended’ techniques – resulting in low inherent inductance. These capacitors can be subjected to short term over voltage, making them suitable for use in anode and screen circuits. The leads are spaced for use on 2.54mm/0.1″ grid prototyping and printed circuit boards. The casing is coated with a water repellent lacquer.
Condition:
These capacitors were manufactured in the 1970’s, but are in near mint cosmetic condition. The characteristics (capacitance, tolerance, rated voltage, etc.) and solderability have been tested and verified by our professionals.

Some pieces may have slight blemishes and/or cracks in the outer lacquer coating from aging/storage –
this does NOT effect the functionality or characteristics of the capacitor.
